With the help of FaceTime, Cincinnati Reds players balance work and fatherhood

After a win against the Chicago Cubs last week, Eugenio Suarez watched the postgame fireworks at Great American Ball Park with his young daughter.

Suarez returned to his locker afterward to speak to reporters about his two-run homer, holding his daughter – who was born at the end of last season – in his arms.

There are many perks to playing in the Major Leagues. The hardest part is trying to make up time with their families, especially with all the road trips. For several players, that means time apart from their young kids.

“The toughest part about this job is being away from not only my kids but just family in general,” Reds reliever David Hernandez said.
