PITTSBURGH – Luis Cessa served as an opener for a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in April, but his start Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies will have a much different meaning behind it.
Cessa was named Monday’s starter after the Cincinnati Reds optioned T.J. Zeuch to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. Cessa isn’t built up to pitch more than a few innings, but there is a chance he could remain a starter for at least a couple of turns through the rotation.
