Immediately after the Cincinnati Reds completed their 7-1 Opening Day victory over the Detroit Tigers, Nick Castellanos returned to right field in full uniform with his glove.
It was a perplexing sight. He played well. He scored a run, drove in a run when he was hit by a pitch and hit his first double of the season. He was replaced in the seventh inning for pinch-runner Travis Jankowski, who stole a base and played the final two innings in right field.
Castellanos declined an interview request Saturday afternoon, but Reds manager David Bell said Castellanos was upset about being taken out of the game.
