What if the Cincinnati Reds don’t trade for starting pitching help at the deadline?
General manager Nick Krall has been working the phones, and the mission for the Aug. 1 deadline is clear, given the banged-up, patchwork state of the Reds rotation all season.
Even rival pitcher Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers told the Enquirer at the All-Star game the Reds “need a lot more pitching than maybe one starter.”
But in a seller’s market (at least so far), the bidding figures to get fraught at the wire for the likes of the White Sox’ Lucas Giolito or Lance Lynn (and forget about the Cubs trading Marcus Stroman in the division).
