The Reds crossed catcher Yasmani Grandal off their list of offseason targets Thursday after Grandal signed a four-year, $73 million contract with the Chicago White Sox.
Offensively, Grandal checked a lot of boxes that the Reds were targeting in free agency. He ranked 10th in the National League with a .380 on-base percentage last year and second with 109 walks. He’s a switch hitter with pop at the top of the lineup, hitting at least 22 homers in each of the last four seasons.
