Trevor Bauer may have been the frontrunner for the American League Cy Young Award in 2018 until he had a small stress fracture in his fibula in August.
Bauer was sidelined for about six weeks and finished sixth in the Cy Young voting. Winning a Cy Young is one of his goals every season, and he was disappointed that he lost his best opportunity to compete for it.
“That’s been a frustrating point in my career and it’s stuck with me,” Bauer said.
Bauer is back in a similar spot with two weeks remaining in the 2020 season.
