There are many numbers that illustrate how poorly the Cincinnati Reds’ offense performed all year:
They had a 22-inning scoreless streak in the Wild Card Series that ended their season. They had the worst batting average in the league and the worst in franchise history. They scored two or fewer runs in 21 of their 62 games (34%).
For a team that plays half of its games at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, it’s even more concerning. The Reds averaged 4.66 runs per game at GABP and 3.48 runs on the road. The front office prioritized the offense last winter and, yet, it was the team’s weakness all year.
