CHICAGO – Opposing hitters know all about Cody Reed’s slider but that doesn’t make it any easier to hit.
There was no questioning the pitch’s effectiveness Saturday against the Chicago Cubs after the left-handed Reed recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in five innings.
Reed threw 29 strikes with his slider, according to Major League Baseball’s gameday algorithm, and it produced nine swings and misses.
