A congratulatory thumbs-up isn't a usual reaction for a batter who strikes out in a Major League Baseball game.
But that's what Cincinnati Reds designated hitter Jesse Winker did after taking a called third strike Wednesday night from Kansas City Royals starter Matt Harvey - Winker's teammate with the Reds for most of the 2018 season - during the second game of the doubleheader between the two teams.
“My first reaction was, ‘damn, that was a good pitch,'" Winker said. "It was a fastball that came back. It was just a raw reaction. Harvey is a former teammate and I enjoyed his time in Cincinnati.
