BOSTON – The Cincinnati Reds were already down one outfielder, Tommy Pham, from a pregame injury and then they lost right fielder Tyler Naquin in the fourth inning.
Naquin exited Tuesday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox with a left quad strain, the club announced.
He appeared to limp after he grounded out to first base to open the top of the fourth inning, sprinting to the bag as he tried to run ahead of Red Sox first baseman Franchy Cordero's flip to pitcher Michael Wacha.
Once Naquin touched first base, he took a few awkward-looking steps past the first-base bag.
