CHICAGO – When Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett fielded a ground ball in the eighth inning and completed the throw to first base, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras slammed his helmet to the dirt.
The Cubs couldn’t create much offense against Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle and Contreras failed to capitalize against the bullpen.
