GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Tyler Mahle did his best to ignore the trade rumors all offseason, choosing to focus on things he can control, and now he’ll be in charge of leading the Cincinnati Reds into the 2022 season.
Mahle was named the Reds’ Opening Day starter on Wednesday, the first time he’s received the honor in his career. The Reds will begin the season on the road – April 7 in Atlanta – for the first time since 1990 because the lockout postponed the first week of games. A lockout was the reason why the Reds began on the road that year, too.
