ST. LOUIS – Tyler Mahle was two outs from a good outing Saturday.
But his inability to get the third out in the third and fifth innings led to five runs in a Reds’ 6-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals before a crowd of 44,197 at Busch Stadium.
Mahle gave up a two-out, three-run homer to Marcell Ozuna in the third and a two-out, two-double to Ozuna in the fifth.
Mahle, 0-3, went five innings and allowed the five runs on seven hits. He walked three – two of whom scored – and struck out two.
