Trey Griffey, son of Ken Griffey Jr., eyes WR spot on Steelers' 53-man roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers, archrival of the Cincinnati Bengals, might include the son and grandson of Reds Hall of Famers among the wide receivers they keep on their 53-man roster when they make final cuts.

Trey Griffey, the son of Hall of Fame outfielder and former Cincinnati Reds and Moeller High School star Ken Griffey Jr. and grandson of Big Red Machine great Ken Griffey Sr., signed a futures contract with the Steelers in January.

A projection of the Steelers' 53-man roster from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ray Fittipaldo includes Griffey among six receivers.

Griffey "has been making a big push the past week or two in practice" and is expected to beat out Marcus Tucker and Damoun Patterson for the sixth spot, according to Fittipaldo's projections.
