Trevor Bauer was voted the National League’s Most Outstanding Pitcher in the Players Association’s Player Choice Awards, the MLBPA announced Thursday.
Bauer received a $5,000 grant to direct to charity as a part of the award after he bested finalists Yu Darvish (Chicago Cubs) and Jacob deGrom (New York Mets). Players voted for the awards in mid-September.
It should be a fruitful awards season for Bauer, who is the favorite to win the NL Cy Young, which is announced in mid-November. The Reds are one of four franchises that have never had a Cy Young winner. Johnny Cueto finished runner-up in 2014.
