Trevor Bauer was simply sensational on the bump for the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, slicing and dicing up the Chicago Cubs for 7.2 scoreless innings. Beyond just the depth in which he pitched was the excellence, as he allowed just a trio of hits - all singles - and nary a walk, fanning 10 in his 112 pitch outing.
It was precisely the kind of outing the struggling Reds needed, whether they pick up the pieces and move on positively, or not.
A very, very pertinent hat-tip is due to Mike Moustakas, too, whose 1st inning 3-run blast provided every single ounce of the official offense on the night.
