Trevor Bauer makes postseason history, but Cincinnati Reds drop Game 1 heartbreaker

ATLANTA – The Cincinnati Reds received a historic pitching performance from Trevor Bauer and their bullpen, but their offense squandered every opportunity to give them some help.

It blew up on them when Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off single in the 13th inning to hand the Reds a painful 1-0 loss in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series on Wednesday at Truist Park. It was the first time in MLB postseason history that a game was scoreless after 11 innings, an epic pitching duel that makes the loss that much more deflating.

It’s a game that will end up in a lot of record books.
