Even after winning the first seven games of the 1919 season, the Cincinnati Reds seemed to be having a difficult time grabbing the attention of local media.
Close inspection of the May 16 Enquirer edition of that year reveals no information about the Reds, who had played the day before the third game of a four-game series against the Brooklyn Robins – not yet the Dodgers – at Ebbets Field.
Too bad. The game was significantly noteworthy. The Reds snapped a 12-inning scoreless tie by erupting for 10 runs in the 13th for a 10-0 win.
