Y’know those once-in-a-lifetime games where, say, 35,058 actually show up, but hundreds of thousands more claim to have been on hand?
This was one of them – Aug. 17, 1984, pennant-contending Cubs visiting also-ran Reds at Riverfront Stadium.
The attendance likely would’ve been much less except that, for the first time since Oct. 1, 1978, Pete Rose was wearing a Reds uniform at Riverfront Stadium.
