Even the most casual of Cincinnati Reds fans knows that Vander Meer is the only pitcher in major league history to pitch no-hitters in back-to-back starts. The left-hander from New Jersey strung together his fantastic stretch of dominance in 1938 in games against the Boston Bees – not Braves at the time – on June 11 at Crosley Field and against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in New York on June 15.
