July 25, 1974 – The day Marty Brennaman's famous line may or may not have been born
Brennaman admits that he doesn’t remember the first time he uttered what has become his immortal signature line, “And this one belongs to the Reds.”
The Cincinnati Reds Baseball Hall of Fame radio broadcaster knows that it was during the 1974 season, the first of his major league career, but his guesses have been based on sketchy information.
That means there’s a good chance that it happened during one of two games, both ending on Tony Pérez walk-off home runs.
