Marty Brennaman has described thousands of home runs in his 45 seasons as the Cincinnati Reds’ play-by-play announcer on Reds radio broadcasts.
Perhaps none of them were bigger or had more impact than the first.
Brennaman made his Cincinnati debut on Opening Day of the 1974 season – a bright, sunny Thursday. The Reds, the defending National League West Division champions, faced the Atlanta Braves at Riverfront Stadium.
