Starting on May 4, 1869, the Cincinnati Reds – or Red Stockings or Redlegs – have played 21,302 games, give or take a couple here and there in the early 1870s.
They’ve won 10,773, according to various sources. Some of the wins – indeed, some of the games – have been more memorable than others.
As the franchise celebrates the 150th anniversary of basically inventing professional sports as we know it, the Enquirer has identified the top 100 games in Reds history. We will take closer, game-by-game looks at the top 50 throughout the season.
Admittedly, the criteria for the choices wasn’t clear-cut.
