Late Thursday night, the Reds announced that lefty reliever Tony Cingrani will be going on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique injury:
Cingrani last pitched in Tuesday’s 9-3 victory over Baltimore and felt some soreness in his oblique on his last pitch, a fly out to right field. Cingrani didn’t think it was a big deal on Wednesday, but when it was still bothering him on Thursday, he saw team medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek. The Reds decided to err on the side of caution putting him on the DL.
Cingrani had been pitching well in his 2017 role (“Not A Closer”), and we wish him a speedy recovery.
