LOS ANGELES – There are some contributing factors to Tommy Pham’s slow start with the Cincinnati Reds, producing just one hit in his first 26 at-bats.
Pham was one of the last arrivals to spring training, signing less than two weeks prior to Opening Day, so he’s still catching up on at-bats. Some hard contact hasn’t been rewarded with hits. He missed two games last week with a left hand injury after a collision in the outfield.
None of that, though, makes it any easier to look up at the scoreboard and see an ugly stat line when stepping into the batter’s box.
