Three takeaways from the Reds' 2nd-day picks in the MLB Draft

There’s no cookie-cutter model for what type of pitcher the Cincinnati Reds are looking for in the MLB Draft.

On the first day of the MLB Draft, the Reds picked the Atlantic Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year, who has an aggressive approach, has a standout changeup and posted a perfect 15-0 record in college last year. They also took a starter who had a 4.35 ERA last season at LSU but possesses one of the most overpowering fastballs in this year’s draft.

Then on Monday, the second day of the draft, the Reds took a starting pitcher whom the Reds view as a “tremendous competitor,” a starter with a big fastball and great athleticism as well as two left-handed pitchers with intriguing deliveries who might become big league relievers.
