The Reds appear to be shuttling pitchers between Cincinnati and Louisville at a higher frequency than they make calls to bullpen. It seems that this constant shuffling of arms has become necessary to keep fresh arms on hand since they decided to stash a 3rd string catcher on the roster and go with a 12 man pitching staff. A twelve man pitching staff is not uncommon, at least in places other than Cincinnati, but is a big challenge for the Reds staff that is depleted by injuries and in the middle of a rebuild. I’ll find very interesting to see how long they will continue to shuffle their pitching staff in this manner and stick with the 3 catchers and the 12 man pitching staff.
