'This wasn't a situation that we could (mess) up': How the Reds dealt with a positive test

The Reds got word that one of their players had tested COVID-19 positive just as Friday’s game was ending. It was one of the more subdued celebrations of an 8-1 win that you’ll ever see after word spread among the players .

But, as the possible ramifications of the positive test sunk in, some of the team leaders met with president of baseball operations Dick Williams, general manager Nick Krall and field manager David Bell.

“A few of us stuck around the clubhouse,” catcher Tucker Barnhart said, “just kind of talking with David, Dick Williams and Nick Krall about how we thought we should approach this situation.
