Anthony DeSclafani entered Thursday’s start with a 0.00 ERA this season.
That lasted two pitches. Adam Frazier hit DeSclafani’s second pitch of the night out to center. Things did not get better for DeSclafani. He was thoroughly beaten around in the Reds’ 9-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park.
DeSclafani, the 30-year-old right-hander, went two innings and allowed nine runs on nine hits. Three of the hits were home runs.
"It's tough to tell you know because we're used to seeing Disco so good," Reds manger David Bell said. "You're waiting for him, you know to to turn it around and they just, they seemed like they were on everything and you know you hate to keep him out there when that's happening but he's such a good pitcher and given our situation.
