GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson arrived at spring training on Saturday as a near lock to be the starter on Opening Day.
After spending the 2021 season splitting time with Tucker Barnhart, Stephenson is in a much different position this season. The Reds traded Barnhart, paving the way for Stephenson to start at catcher as much as possible this season.
“Obviously I’m excited for everything that’s going to come along this year,” Stephenson said. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe in myself, and obviously they believe in me. I’m excited to get to work, meet the new guys and get this thing rolling.
