The Washington Nationals are a last-place baseball team with one otherworldly offensive talent on their roster and, for now, a lot of fodder. Naturally, that meant the Cincinnati Reds chose to challenge said otherworldly offensive talent, and it burned them in the latest in a long, long line of late-season burns.
Juan Soto homered twice off Reds pitching to lead the Nationals to a 3-1 victory over the effectively defunct Reds, who opened this series with a loss after having lost 8 series in a row entering play tonight. That, of course, is somewhat on hold due to a technicality, since they can’t actually lose their previous series against Pittsburgh until they lose to them in the makeup game on Monday, but I digress.
