The lowest point in Bronson Arroyo’s baseball career, the newly-elected Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer, came on March 30, 2006 when he found out he was traded to the Reds.
Arroyo was a year-and-a-half removed from a World Series title with the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed being one of the younger guys on a veteran roster. He imagined himself as a part of the Red Sox’s rotation for years to come.
Then with one phone call, his dream of a long career in Boston was over.

“I don’t know if there’s a moment in my life that’s probably been lower than that phone call Theo Epstein gave me,” Arroyo said Wednesday, referring to the former Red Sox general manager.
