On the field this past weekend, the Reds presented a disappointing product. Failing to come through with guys on base, failing to make pitches when needed, and failing to make easy plays. (OK, so the latter were not as endemic as the former, but led to an overall bad showing against the Cubs.) With Saturday’s rain washing out the middle game of the series (6 hours at the ballpark later…but that is a different issue), the Cubs beating the Reds twice meant they were swept twice in the past three series. Ugh.
What made it more disappointing – between the Reds’ play and the weather – was that this was supposed to be the weekend they recognized the 25th anniversary of the wire-to-wire Reds, the last Reds team to win the World Series.
