GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Drew Storen made what in retrospect was an odd choice when he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays a year ago. After posting a 3.02 ERA over six seasons with the Washington Nationals, he tried to do something different.
It went poorly. Now, after signing with the Cincinnati Reds earlier in the year, the right-handed reliever trying to get back to himself.
The 29-year-old Storen has always been a guy who pitched off his slider. He had pretty even mix – in his best year, 2014, he threw his four-seam, slider, sinker and change-up all at least 18 percent of the time – but the slider was the focal point.
