KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sonny Gray tried all the tricks in his book to shake this nervous feeling in his stomach during the Cincinnati Reds' 5-2 win Wednesday.
He yelled after the final out in the second inning. Catcher Tucker Barnhart said Gray shouted at him to pay attention when Barnhart was watching something on the video board during their pregame bullpen session. He flipped his hat and glove to an umpire during a foreign substance inspection.
"I was a little angry elf," Gray said. "Some days just be like that, I guess."
After giving up two runs in the fourth inning, Gray decided to start all over.
