Shed Long, traded by the New York Yankees to the Seattle Mariners after the Cincinnati Reds dealt him earlier this week to the Yankees along with a 2019 Competitive Balance Round A pick for starting pitcher Sonny Gray and minor-league pitcher Reiver Sanmartin, thanked Reds fans and the organization with a Tweet and Instagram post for their support over more than five years since they selected him in the 12th round of the 2013 Draft.
The 23-year-old Long was the Reds' No. 7 rated prospect before the trade. But as a second baseman he plays what's considered the deepest position in the minors for Cincinnati.
