KANSAS CITY, MO. – During a pitching change at Great American Ball Park last weekend, Scooter Gennett and Joey Votto stood behind the mound during warm-up pitches.
Votto was mimicking a swing while the two players chatted about hitting.
Gennett enjoys bouncing ideas off Votto during games. They are both left-handed. They hit next to each other in the lineup and discuss what they are seeing from pitchers.
“Obviously, he’s one of the best in the game,” Gennett said. “There’s things I run through him just to try to get his perspective on it to where I could kind of incorporate it into what I’m doing if it makes sense for me as a hitter.
