The Cincinnati Reds are in the early stages of planning an instructional league camp in October at their spring training complex in Goodyear, Arizona.
Major League Baseball told teams that they could proceed with their instructional leagues at the beginning of the month, though things are still fluid because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Typically, instructional leagues are important because it’s a way for minor leaguers to learn new skills in a controlled environment after concluding their seasons. For example, that’s where Nick Senzel first started playing in the outfield, working with special instructor Eric Davis.
Without a minor league season, the most important part of the instructional leagues this fall will be playing games against other teams.
