Back when the Reds rebuild, reboot or rewind did not seem to be going so well, I asked a baseball guy what the team needed to do.
“We’ve got one guy who can beat you with his bat and glove,” he said. “We've got to get more players like him.”
That would be Eugenio Suarez. And this was well before he had hit 49 home runs in a season, well before he earned an All-Star berth.
As we enter the delayed 2020 season, it’s clear that this is Suarez’s team. He’s the best position player – he was voted team MVP in 2018 and a unanimous choice in 2019 – and he’s one of the biggest presence in the clubhouse.
