The Cincinnati Reds will have a lot more players than usual at their spring training complex in Goodyear, Arizona, in a few weeks.
Along with the typical players in big-league camp, and the minor leaguers who arrive early to play at the end of spring training games, the Reds will conduct their instructional league for about 30 players in February.
It’s the first time the Reds are holding their instructional league in the spring. Most teams invite about 50 minor leaguers to their instructional league in late-September, which gives them time for small group work with coaches and a way to learn new positions or skills following the minor league season.
