GOODYEAR, Ariz. – When Reds minor leaguers begin their seasons at various affiliates and different levels of the farm system, each player will receive an individualized plan from the player development staff.
The plans will be specific. If a player has an issue with sliding, the individualized plan will detail how to improve a slide. Keep hands up. Don’t decelerate when reaching the base. A player could be told to practice on a sliding mat twice a week for six weeks and a coach will grade those slides.
