ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Zack Cozart thought he could play through his strained right quad, but when he tried to beat out an infield single in the ninth inning of Saturday’s loss to the Dodgers, he knew he couldn’t.
The Reds placed Cozart on the 10-day disabled list before Monday’s game with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Reds also put right-hander Bronson Arroyo on the disabled list and called up outfielder Jesse Winker and right-hander Ariel Hernandez to take their spots on the roster.
With Cozart on the DL, Jose Peraza moved from second to short for Monday’s game and Scooter Gennett was in the lineup at second.
