CHICAGO –– At Wrigley Field on Friday, the Chicago Cubs had six innings to try to figure out how to hit Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene’s fastball. With Greene’s pitch count well over 100, Cubs star shortstop Dansby Swanson was at the plate, looking to end Greene’s no-hitter.
Greene threw Swanson a fastball at 98 mph that landed outside of the strike zone. Swanson took a hearty swing and flew out to left field. He couldn’t figure out Greene’s fastball, either.
Greene’s dominant start on Friday ended there due to his high pitch count, but he showed all the signs of his potential as he led the Reds to a 9-0 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
