Major League Baseball released their finalists for the American League and National League Comeback Player of the Year Award earlier this afternoon. The league named three players, and Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Sonny Gray was among the group. Atlanta Braves infielder Josh Donaldson and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu were the other two finalists in the National League.
The competition is very strong this season. Hyun-Jin Ryu missed four-and-a-half months in 2018. When he was on the mound he dominated, posting a 1.97 ERA – but he only made 15 starts during the season and threw just 82.
