The Cincinnati Reds have announced that second baseman Scooter Gennett will go on a rehab assignment beginning on Monday. He will join the Daytona Tortugas, who will be beginning the second half of their season. This was first reported by Bobby Nightengale of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Scooter Gennett hasn’t played in games since late in the spring. He injured his groin on March 22nd making a throw from the outfield grass and he’s missed nearly three months. Last Thursday he headed out to Goodyear to get action in game-like situations with the guys in extended spring training.
