The latest Reds rumors are sure to make the fanbase smile. According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Cincinnati Reds have emerged as the frontrunners in the chase for free agent outfielder Nicholas Castellanos. After missing out on Marcell Ozuna, it’s not surprising that the Reds have turned their attention to the best available free agent hitter remaining.
Morosi is reporting that the two sides have made progress over the past few days, but also mentions the San Francisco Giants as a possible landing spot for the 27-year-old. Castellanos was projected by MLB Trade Rumors to take home a four-year contract worth $58M, but after the four-year/$64M deal Mike Moustakas signed, it’s fair to think Castellanos could sign for more.
