Lucas Sims may be pitching in front of Michael Lorenzen and Mychal Givens in the Cincinnati Reds’ bullpen throughout the last two months, but he’s been as dominant as any pitcher in the league for the last two months.
Since the start of August, when Sims was activated from the injured list after a right elbow sprain, Sims leads MLB relievers by striking out 48.2% of the batters he’s faced. He owns a 1.69 ERA across his last 11 relief appearances, permitting two runs and five hits in 10 2/3 innings while striking out 20.
“When Lucas is healthy and rested, I think he may have as good stuff as anyone in the game,” Reds manager David Bell said.
