Reds recap: Reds strike first in Ohio Cup battles

The Reds took the first game of the Ohio Cup, beating Cleveland 5-1 at Great American Ball Park on Monday.

Here are the main storylines from Monday’s game:

• Feldman Ks 9: Scott Feldman struck out the first five Cleveland batters he faced and had a perfect game before his opposite, Josh Tomlin, blooped in a single with two outs in the third.

Feldman went six innings — the Reds’ longest start since Lisalverto Bonilla’s complete game in San Francisco on May 13 — and struck out nine. He gave up just one run, on a solo homer by Jason Kipnis to lead off the sixth, cutting the Reds’ lead to 2-1.
