TORONTO — The Reds gave up season highs in runs (17) and hits (23) in a 17-2 loss to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Monday.
Here are the main storylines from Monday’s game:
• Another short start: Lisalverto Bonilla’s fourth start for the Reds was his shortest — lasting just 2 1/3 innings. It was the seventh time this season a Reds starter hasn’t lasted three innings.
Bonilla managed to stuff five walks into his appearance, giving up six runs with the aid of three hits.
Reds manager Bryan Price went out to get Bonilla after he hit Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin to load the bases in the second.
