Reds rally late, beat Royals on Joey Votto’s 3-run triple in extra innings

Sal Romano became the first Cincinnati Reds pitcher to actually fire 8 innings during the 2018 season on Tuesday, doing so against the Kansas City Royals in largely effective fashion. Mustang Sally fanned just 2 against a lone walk in his effort, but limited the Royals to just 4 hits in his time on the mound, which was a welcome sign given how he’d struggled in recent starts coming in.

Honorable Mentions are due to: Tucker Barnhart, who had a 2 for 5 night with the late dinger to send this one into extras; Joey Votto, who walked and bonked a 3-run game-winner of a triple; Scooter Gennett, who singled and walked; and Jesse Winker, who walked twice and made a great catch at the wall in the Bottom of the 9th to prolong the game.
